Agricultural Bank of China Inaugurates New York Branch

NEW YORK- August 17, 2012- Agricultural Bank of China (ABC, 601288.SH, 1288.HK) yesterday held an opening ceremony for its New York Branch. As ABC’s first branch in the United States, the New York Branch extends ABC’s global presence and marks a significant milestone in ABC’s global strategy.
Agricultural Bank of China President Zhang Yun, Ambassador Wang Min of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations, New York City Economic Development Corporation President Seth Pinsky, senior regulatory officials from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the New York State Department of Financial Services and some 500 local guests attended the ceremony held in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
Located at 277 Park Avenue, the New York Branch will engage in lending, wholesale deposit-taking, trade finance, treasury and other banking services. As ABC’s initial operating platform in the United States, the New York Branch will capitalize on ABC’s extensive financial resources, strong global network and solid infrastructure to provide premium financial services to its clients, including multinational corporations and financial institutions.
ABC is one of the largest banks in China, with an extensive domestic branch network. In addition to New York, the bank has overseas branches in Hong Kong, Singapore and Seoul, a wholly-owned subsidiary in the United Kingdom, and representative offices in Tokyo, Frankfurt, Sydney and Vancouver.
The establishment of ABC’s branch in New York, the world’s largest financial center, will significantly enhance ABC’s ability to provide global financial services to its customers. The new branch endeavors to facilitate China-U.S. economic and trade investment, to promote bilateral communication and cooperation, so as to better serve ABC’s global strategy.
